History of facult of social sciences
In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 30, 2021, No. 408 "On Measures to Organize the Activities of the Uzbek-Finnish Pedagogical Institute of Samarkand State University," the Uzbek-Finnish Pedagogical Institute of Samarkand State University was established.
The educational process at the institute began in the 2021-2022 academic year. The name of the Faculty of Social Sciences has changed several times since the establishment of the institute. In particular, starting from the 2021-2022 academic year, our faculty began its activities as the Faculty of "Exact and Natural Sciences and Physical Culture." After that, our faculty operated under the name of the "Physical Culture, Sports and Preschool Education" faculty in the 2023-2024 academic year, and the "Pedagogy and Physical Culture" faculty in the 2024-2025 academic year.
When this faculty was first established, that is, in the 2021-2022 academic year, the faculty was headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Bakhtiyor Tojiyevich Khaydarov. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the faculty was headed by Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Sherzod To'ychiyevich Normo'minov, and in the first quarter of the 2024-2025 academic year, Associate Professor Matlab Farhodovich Rakhimov. Currently, Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences Jurakulov Abror Raufovich serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
A total of 74 professors and teachers work at the faculty, including 4 Doctors of Science (DSc) and 16 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD). The scientific potential of the faculty is 27%.
The faculty has 4 departments. These are:
- Department of Physical Culture and Sport;
- Department of History;
- Department of National Idea and Philosophy;
- Department of Psychology.
In these departments, based on the approved schedule, research work is carried out in the scientific direction of the departments.
Today, our faculty has established cooperation with several leading foreign higher educational institutions. In particular, cooperation is being carried out in various areas with the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Bombay Institute of Technology of India, the Azerbaijan State University of Languages of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Istanbul University of Turkey, Kazan State Federal University of the Russian Federation, the K. Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, and the D.R. Derazhavin Tambov State University, as well as the Tajik National University of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Khujand State Pedagogical Institute.
In order to organize the meaningful leisure time of students at the faculty, the activities of science clubs and sports clubs have been effectively organized at the departments. Also, in accordance with the approved schedule, various spiritual and educational events, meetings, round tables, sports competitions, and reviews are held.
