History of the Department
The Uzbekistan-Finland Pedagogical Institute of Samarkand State University was established under Resolution No. 408 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 30, 2021. From 2021 until July 2023, psychology courses were integrated within the Department of Pedagogy.
On July 31, 2023, the Department of Psychology was established as an independent department following the decision of the Institute's Scientific Council. Currently, it operates under the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The department’s primary research theme is: "Science Development in the 21st Century and the Conceptual Foundations of Psychology."
Main Objectives of the Department

Implementing fair and transparent assessment via the credit-module system.

Publishing textbooks, study guides, and methodological manuals.

Preparing gifted students for Olympiads and competitions.

Academic Programs and Curriculum
The department provides general psychology courses for all university programs and specialized training for psychology majors, including:

Specialized Subjects: Experimental Psychology, Developmental and Differential Psychology, Psychodiagnostics, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Psychological Counseling and Psychocorrection, Family Psychology, History of Psychology, and Labor/Engineering Psychology.

Student Body: A total of 75 students are enrolled in full-time and evening bachelor's programs.

Full-time Staff (9 members): Includes Assoc. Prof. Umida Butayeva (Head of Dept), Assoc. Prof. Otabek Zaripov, and two PhD holders (Shahlo Isxakova and Jo’rabek Tursunov).
